‘I’ll never call SRK my brother’

Vidya Balan recently did a small act at the Screen Awards with Shah Rukh Khan where she addressed the superstar as ‘brother’. However, she says calling SRK brother saddened her.

“I did not find that act interesting. I felt very sad that I called him my brother. The world can call Shah Rukh their brother, but I will never call him my brother,” the 33-year-old actress said at the DVD launch of her movie ‘The Dirty Picture’.

After taking away all the awards for her performance in ‘The Dirty Picture’, Vidya is currently busy promoting her next film Kahaani.

She is playing the role of a pregnant woman in search of her husband in the film.

It is scheduled to release on March 9.

Power beyond control

Fox Star Studios’ latest project is a unique one, apt for today’s digital generation. ‘Chronicle’ is a tale of three teens who find a power beyond their imagination, and undergo a struggle in learning to control it.

Three high school friends gain superpowers of telekinesis, flight and invulnerability after making an incredible discovery in a mysterious crater. Soon, they find their lives spinning out of control. Even their friendship is tested as they embrace their darker sides.

Based on an original story by first-time director Josh Trank, ‘Chronicle’ has been shot in the ‘found-footage style’ made popular in films like ‘The Blair Witch Project’ and ‘Paranormal Activity’. It is garnering a lot of interest among movie-goers already.

In this era of YouTube and instant uploads, young people are increasingly sharing their experiences with one another through the Internet. The film captures this very essence of the young audience through the story.

Says Josh Trank, “I used to shoot little videos on things that took place in life — something that started out normally followed by something bizarre and spectacular. And I suddenly realised that there was a movie in that.”

Starring newbies Michael B Jordan, Dane Dehaan and Alex Russell, the film’s story charts the life of a teenager who picks up a camera to document his life, and it’s through his lens the audiences witness his and his friends’ transformation when they stumble upon mysterious powers. He keeps the camera rolling as they test out their newfound abilities, in sync with today’s digitally focused youth!

Says lead actor Dane DeHaan, “I think a lot of scenes in this movie could become viral hits if they were just two minute videos on YouTube. But they have taken all these moments and made a very thorough narrative out of them.”

Well, India’s youngsters have a film tailor-made for them this February. Catch ‘Chronicle’ as it releases on February 3.

Glass for class

Stars are known to wear sunglasses at any point of time of the day and venue, be it indoors or outdoors.

The reasons for the same can be many — from baggy eyes to trying to avoid attention. Chunky Pandey, who recently returned from Dubai, had a funny incident with goggles.

“I had worn my glasses on both the days when I had gone for the matches. And both the matches were held at night. So I could not see the ball on the field properly and was always confused as to where it was. Post a couple of overs, I realised that I was sitting with the wrong team and cheering them. I quickly ran to my team, that is Salman’s team when I realised that,” he laughs.

All we can say is watch out Chunky, this habit hasits own benefits and hindrances!

Grateful to public

Sanjay Dutt, who is garnering a lot of praise for his role as Kancha Cheena in Agneepath, says the best award for him is the viewers’ appreciation.  “For me, the award is the public, the people who have made Agneepath a big hit,” the 52-year-old actor said at an event. Post Agneepath, Sanjay is working on ‘Race 2’, ‘Son of Sardar’, Zilla Ghaziabad and ‘Department’.

Going great guns

The band Agnee consists of Koco and Mohan on guitars and vocals, Michael Pereira on keyboards, Among Jamir on bass, Hrishikesh Datar on drums, Nitin Joshi on sound and Pradeep Ratanjankar as the music tech.

The band was formed in 2006 when Mohan and Koco met by chance at a common’s friend’s wedding and started jamming together.

There has been no looking back for the band since then.

Their very first album Agnee, which released in 2007, was an instant hit. They earned tremendous appreciation for songs like Sadho Re, Kabira, Ujale Baaz from the album, Lamha Yeh Jayega Kahan (from the film Dil Dosti Etc) and theme songs of reality shows like Roadies and Splitsvilla (Aahatein).

Agnee has just finished working on the music of two films — Aalaap and Shala (Marathi).

Aalaap marks their entry into Bollywood as music directors. Agnee has also completed recording for the theme song for Roadies 9 and the band has joined hands with Walt Disney for their April release ‘Avengers’.  Agnee will be composing and singing the theme song of the movie and promote it in India.

Showering praises on Kat

Katrina Kaif is being showered with praise for her Chikni Chameli act in Agneepath and Shakti Kapoor says it is her hard work that has helped her reach this position in the industry. “To come to this situation of power as an actor requires hard work and the same goes for Katrina.

Look at her, a girl coming from London and she has overpowered all the other heroines in the country. It’s only her hard work and I wish her all the best,” Shakti said at an event. Shakti, 59, was recently seen in Bigg Boss 5 and his last film was Bin Bulaye Baraati.
