“India has adopted English system of education. So the need for arts and physical education is all the more. Creativity can be induced through extra-curricular activities. So music, dance, theatre and sports should be encouraged based on the talent and interest of students.

German and French schools lay stress on extra-curricular activities, so these nations excel in sports hand in hand with financial and infrastructural development,” he said.

“The aim of any art form is self-satisfaction and enjoyment. So art cannot be imposed on a person. Parents should first understand the inclination of their children and encourage them to pursue activities of their interest,” he said.

Theatre person Rameshwari Varma presided over the inaugural function. Director Shantaiah, Chandrasekhara Achar, Shankutala Hegde and B Jagadish were present on the occasion.
