Noida banks get six weeks to shift offices

Noida,Feb 3,2012, PTI:

Authorities on Friday began removing sealing tapes from the doors of commercial banks at Sector 19, Noida, after the Supreme Court stayed the sealing process for six weeks.

The court asked the banks to solve the matter by March 3.

Bank officials, however, said six weeks’ time is too short to shift their offices. They said they needed at least a year to complete the process.

The banks had moved the apex court against the Noida Development Authority’s drive, which started on February 1. The Supreme Court on January 23 had passed an order that banned commercial activities at residential areas.

On February 1, eight banks and other commercial units, which were running their businesses at residential areas, were sealed after a day’s notice.

The authorities have also come up with a plot scheme for the banks to end the crisis soon. But this process may get delayed by a month due to the Assembly polls in UP. Allotment of land within a few weeks is not possible, said an official.
