Zorawar nails trap gold

 Air India's Zorawar Singh won the gold medal in the men's trap event on the last day of the 55th National shotgun championship at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting range here on Saturday.

Zorawar shot an excellent final score of 24/25.

He was tied at first place (116/125) with Uttar Pradesh's Anwer Sultan in the qualifying round, but cruised ahead with a lead of five points in the finals.

Sultan tied for the second place with Manavjit Singh Sandhu, with both the shooters on 135/150. Sultan won the silver in the tie shoot and Manavjit had to settle for the bronze.

In the junior men's category, G Sharan of Karnataka won the gold medal (105/125) followed by Adhiraj Singh Rathore (101) and Manavaditya Rathore (99), who won silver and bronze respectively.

The first selection trial to select the shooters for the Olympic Games will start on February 6 here. The second selection trial will be held at the New Moti Bagh Gun Club, Patiala from February 13.
