The second day of “Spring Zouk Island Festival- 2012” at St Mary’s Island has thrown open the alien culture of extreme freedom transforming the island into imaginary “hippy” land with nil societal restrictions.

Sources informed Deccan Herald that there are more than 1000 to 2000 people from various countries across the globe besides Indians. The foreigners, most of them who claim themselves to be ‘hippies’ are seen having unlimited fun and pleasure immersed in the awe of narcotics and alcohol. Most of them are willing to pay heavy bucks for the entertainment.

The area has turned out to be yet another profit making corporate world. Despite the police force working for security in the area, the use and supply of narcotics and alcohol is taking place without any fear of legal consequences in the name of entertainment, a source said.
According to the restrictions laid down by the district administration, the programmes are permitted to take place only up to 11 pm.

11 pm to 11 am
However, the programme schedule for Saturday begins at 11 pm and expected to go on till 11 am on Sunday. The jam packed music concert schedule is offering unlimited entertainment to the spectators. The music bands like ‘Highlight Tribe,’ ‘Arjuna,’ ‘Juno Reactor,’ ‘EVP,’ ‘Reality Grid,’ ‘Vibra Sphere,’ ‘DJ Mush’ are expected to perform non-stop for 12 hours beginning 11 pm.

The island is very much crowded and many Indians have come from Goa to have a glance at the event. Besides all these international bands, there are some local musical folk art programmes too have been arranged. Though Coast Guard Security force and additional police force have been deployed to check the supply of narcotics, the revelers are having a field day.
