B’lore youth drowns in waterfalls

A 21-year-old student of BMS College of Engineering in Bangalore drowned after he slipped and fell into the waterfalls during a visit to the Kabbinale reserve forest in Sakleshpur on Saturday. 

Naveen Kumar was part of a 14-member team of young trekkers that started from the Uppinangady forest range in Dakshina Kannada district in the morning. It reached Kabbinale by afternoon.

The incident occurred while the youths were playing at the mini waterfalls, police said. Two of the youths came out of the forest and informed the police about the incident.

The other 11 members have lost contact with the external world as the place is out of bounds for mobile network. Police Inspector Ganesh and Rural Station Sub Inspector Raju and other staff rushed to the spot. It has not been possible to get in touch with the police officers too.

Range forest officer Ratnaprabha told Deccan Herald that the youths had entered the reserve forest for trekking without the forest department’s permission.

Recovery agent killed
A recovery agent of an MNC bank was killed in an accident on Goodshed Road Saturday morning. Ambarish Aradhya, 44, from Harihar had come to the City a couple of days ago and stayed in a lodge. According to police, he was on his way to Majestic area when he lost control over his two-wheeler, hit a pavement and fell off. He was tossed in the air, hit the wall across the railway tracks, and sustained injuries on head. Aradhya was immediately rushed to a hospital where the doctors declared him dead on arrival, the police said. 

18-year-old stabbed
A man stabbed an 18-year-old youth at Bazaar Street in Viveknagar Friday night.
The victim, Samiulla of Munegowda Garden in Neelasandra, was standing alone when the suspect, Kalam, picked up a quarrel with him over a petty issue, allegedly stabbed him and absconded, police said.

The residents shifted Samiulla to a nearby hospital. Samiulla is in a coma and exact reason for the incident can be ascertained only after he regains consciousness, the police said. Samiulla was a mechanic and had lost his job. The police are on the look out for Kamal.

Elderly woman robbed
Two miscreants diverted attention of a woman shopkeeper, snatched her gold chain and fled in Sahakarnagar on Friday. The incident occurred when Chinnamma, 64, a resident of Sahakarnagar ‘C’ Block, was alone in the shop.

According to police, the suspects parked the bike in front of the shop and the pillion rider got down and pretended to buy a biscuit packet.  When Chinnamma was giving him biscuit pack, he snatched her chain and fled, the police said.
