Munni is Falak's mother, wants her custody

New Delhi, Feb 7, 2012 (IANS)

Confirming that Munni is Falak's biological mother, Delhi Police said Tuesday she wants the battered baby's custody, but this will be decided by a child welfare committee.

“Munni, who is the mother of Falak, wants her custody but she will be given custody only after she (the baby) recovers and with the approval of the child welfare committee,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Chhaya Sharma said at a press conference.

Meanwhile, two-year-old Falak's sister who was traced in Bihar has been brought to Delhi and handed over to Munni, police said.

Falak is still critical and fighting for life at AIIMS.

"Falak is still critical, there has been no major decline or significant improvement in her condition. We are continuously administering antibiotics and waiting for the culture report," Deepak Agrawal, assistant professor, neurosurgery, at the AIIMS Trauma Centre, told IANS.

Earlier in the day, police had said Munni would be allowed to meet Falak only after DNA tests proved that she was the biological mother. But police have now confirmed this.
