Son kills father, injures mother

New Delhi, Feb 7, 2012, DHNS:

He attacked his parents six months ago too, alleged relatives

A 33-year-old youth killed his father over a family dispute and injured his mother when she tried to save her husband, police said on Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Chandra Mohan.

He killed his 58-year-old father, Harnam Singh Dhingra, by beating him up with an iron object on Monday night over a petty issue in Krishna Nagar area of east Delhi, police added.

When Kailash Rani, 55, tried to rescue her husband, Mohan started beating her up with the same object, a senior police officer said.  When Harnam Singh collapsed, Mohan injured himself. The incident came to light in the morning after Kailash Rani regained consciousness, the officer added.

The police said neighbours rushed to help when injured Kailash Rani raised an alarm at around 8:45 am. Seeing Harnam Singh and Kailash Rani lying in a pool of blood they informed police about the incident.

A police team took the trio to Dr Hedgewar Hospital where Harnam Singh was declared brought dead, police added.

Kailash Rani and Chandra Mohan are recuperating at the hospital. A case has been registered against him, said the officer.

“I have attained sidhi (supernatural powers) by murdering my father. I wanted to kill my mother also but she survived,” said Mohan. Chandrajeet, Kailash Rani’s brother, said she told him that Mohan attacked suddenly when the couple had gone to sleep.

“Mohan attacked his parents in a fit of uncontrolled anger. We have arrested him. Preliminary investigations have revealed that a quarrel had taken place between the parents and the son at night and out of anger he attacked them. The iron object used in the crime has been recovered from the house,” said Prabhakar, deputy commissioner of police (east).

Harnam Singh was a property dealer and owned a garments shop at Prem Nagar while Mohan is jobless.  Chandrajeet said Mohan was suffering from mental disorder for the past 15 years.

It was not for the first time that Mohan had attacked his parents. Around six months ago, he had tried to kill them, alleged Madan Mohan, father-in-law of accused’s sister.

“Few months ago, Mohan had attacked his parents. He said he wanted to kill them. We informed police and handed him over to police,” said Madan Mohan.
