Falak's sister reunited with mom
Cops search for Munni’s son in Haryana, Rajasthan
The three-year-old elder sister of Falak, who has been battling for life at AIIMS trauma centre since January 18, has been reunited with her mother Munni Khatoon, police said on Tuesday.
“Sanobar was rescued from Muzaffarpur in Bihar,” said Chhaya Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south).
“She was brought to Delhi on Monday evening after Munni told police that she had three kids and Sanobar was her second daughter,” Sharma said. Sanobar went through a medical check-up at Safdarjung Hospital and was handed over to the Child Welfare Committee. “The Committee reunited her with her mother on Tuesday afternoon,” Sharma said.
Police said Sanobar was living with a neighbour of Laxmi’s relative. Laxmi, a resident of Uttam Nagar, was arrested on Monday on the basis statements by Munni.
Laxmi had convinced Munni to come to Delhi in August 2011 with her children. Along with Saroj, Kanta Choudhary and Sharkar, she married off Munni for Rs 2.7 lakh to a 25-year-old man in Rajasthan.
“Sanobar was not sold off but given to a family in Muzaffarpur. Laxmi told Munni that if she insisted on keeping her kids, it would be difficult for her to remarry,” Sharma said.
Sharma said Laxmi’s role in the matter is “dubious” because during interrogation, she had not disclosed anything about Munni’s second child.
“Munni said Laxmi told her to leave the kids and take them back once she is settled in Rajasthan,” the DCP said.
The police are trying to trace Munni’s five-year-old son in Haryana and Rajasthan. “We are working closely with the police of the two states. We are looking for Rajkumar in Mumbai, apart from Munni’s son,” Sharma added.
Kanta Choudhry, who convinced Munni to leave her first husband, Mohammed Shah Hussain, said she had married off at least five more persons.
Related to the case, the police are also questioning a 60-year-old woman, Pratima, and Manoj, 55.
Along with Laxmi, the two had convinced Munni to leave Falak with them. It was they who gave Falak to Raj Kumar.
