Rahul chooses people over posts
Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said politics was not about seeking “posts” but “going to the people and trying to understand their problems.”
“Posts become a sort of hurdle...they create a wall between the leaders and the people',” Rahul said at an election meeting in Sant Ravidas Nagar district.
The Gandhi scion said politics for him was about “going to villages, sit with the people and try to know about their difficulties and then make an attempt to remove those problems.”
Listing achievements of the UPA government, Gandhi spoke about the success of its flagship schemes like MGNREGS, Right to Education and Right to Food. He also slammed the state government for not utilising Central funds properly and diverting them elsewhere.
In an attempt to woo the dominant weaver community in the district, Rahul also referred to the special financial package for the weavers like loan waiver and cheap credits.
