Cold weather ahead after Tuesday’s rain

New Delhi, Feb 7, 2012, DHNS:

Delhi witnessed a misty evening with slight rain on Tuesday. The temperature might dip further in the next two days, the Met Department says.

It was bright and sunny in the morning but the sky became cloudy towards the afternoon. The minimum temperature settled at 7.6 degrees and the humidity was recorded at 78 per cent.

“Rainfall was recorded in some parts of the city. It will continue for next 24 hours. The maximum temperature will be around 21 degree Celsius and minimum temperature will be around eight degrees Celsius. There is possibility of slight rain or thunderstorm in the evening,” said a Met Department official.

The Capital would get cold compared to the past few days that were fairly pleasant. Light rain was seen on five occasions with a total of 13.9 mm against the long period average rainfall of 21.1 mm during this month.

Monday’s maximum and minimum temperatures stood at 23.8 and 11.7 degrees respectively. In January the maximum temperatures remained normal to below normal at an average of 13 degrees. The lowest maximum temperature was recorded on January 18.
