50 cartridges found near Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi, Feb 7, 2012, DHNS:

Fifty cartridges, including 40 live bullets used in sub-machine guns, have been recovered from a dustbin near the Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Parliament House complex, police said on Tuesday.

The cartridges were spotted by Central Reserve Police Force head constable Santosh Rawade and cadet Vinay Kumar in a dustbin behind Shastri Bhavan around 12:30 pm on Monday.

“While checking the dustbin they found a suspicious plastic carry bag. When they opened it they found 40 live cartridges used in medium machine guns and ten bullets of .12 bore,” police said.

The recovered bullets were later handed over to the police. Police said they are uncertain about who abandoned the package at such a sensitive location. Investigation is on.
