The country’s premier investigation agency also conducted searches at his residential premises at Vijayanagar in Bangalore and recovered assets worth Rs 1.5 crore.

A senior CBI officer told Deccan Herald that “a case has been registered against Thulasirama, a section officer in BSNL and his wife H Sharada under the Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.”

The officer said: “Searches were conducted on the residential premises of Thulasirama in Bangalore. During the searches, Rs 57 lakh, Rs 25 lakh in bank account, property documents worth Rs 50 lakh, jewellery and other valuables worth Rs 14 lakh were recovered.”

Asked about any arrests in the case, the CBI officer said the agency was trying to find out the “source of illegal money.”  Later, they can arrest Thulasirama and others as well.
