‘Shock’

‘Shock 2012’, the electronics fest of St Joseph’s Electronics and Technology Club, was held recently.

Fun filled : An event in progress. The St Joseph’s Art ‘Electronics and Technology Club’ (JET Club) recently held its annual electronics fest named ‘Shock 2012’.

The fest saw participants from over 15 science and technology colleges across the country. The inauguration was presided over by Lawrence Jenkins from the Department of Electrical Engineering, IISc and Professor Lingaraju from Department of Information Science, MSRIT.

After the inauguration, the students eagerly awaited for the fest to begin. ‘Lecture Competition’ kickstarted the fest, students spoke about various topics ranging from ‘CMOS technology’ to robotics. The judges were highly impressed by not only their skills but also at the way the students tackled questions that were thrown at them.

Events like ‘Dumb Charades’ and ‘Crossword’ competitions kept the students busy at different venues on the campus. As the day progressed, the fest picked up pace with some students displaying their presentation and oratorial skills in ‘Pick N’ Speak’, while the others cracked complicated circuits in the ‘Circuit Analysis’ competition.

The interesting display of projects in the electronics lab by the students showed their skills at applying theory for practical purposes and some projects even aimed at giving a sneak peak into the technology of the future.

‘Treasure Hunt’ was the most awaited event of the day. The competition involved cracking circuits and finding clues hidden in electronic devices. The teams faced stiff competition on the speed at unravelling clues as well as running around the campus. While bringing out the fun part of electronics, the students felt that they even got a better understanding of the subject.

The fest concluded in the evening with a prize-distribution ceremony. The prizes were given away by Professor Bobby Mathews, HOD, Department of Electronics. Vijaya College was the overall winner of the fest while Christ University was the overall runner-up.
