Vishnu sparkles for SJIHS
BTR Shield
Left-arm seamer Vishnu Jain breathed fire as St Joseph’s Indian High School ended day one with their noses slightly in front in the two-day final of the Dell-KSCA under-14 BTR Shield cricket tournament against Bishop Cotton Boys’ School.
The Cottonians, who chose to bat first after winning the toss at the RSI ground, found themselves in trouble right through and finished their innings with a mere 173 all out in 75.2 overs on board.
Bishop Cotton’s decision to make first use of the wicket boomranged as St Joseph’s Vishnu scalped six wickets while conceding a mere 39.
Sanath Naik too did his bit for Josephites by claiming three wickets.
Saksham Kal (44) and Shashank TA (48) added valuable runs for Cottons, but their efforts were only enough to give their team a decent total to fight with.
In their first innings, the Josephites managed to score 72 runs in 25 overs -- 102 runs away from going past the Cottonian total -- but lost two crucial wickets with an interesting passage of play in line for Friday.
Brief scores: Bishop Cotton Boys’ School: 173 all out in 75.2 overs (Saksham Kal 44, Shashank TA 48; Vishnu Jain 6-39, Sanath Naik 3-64) vs St Joseph's Indian High School: 72/2 in 25 overs (Aiyappa 2-18).
