Priyanka flays fund diversion by Maya
Addressing rallies in Amethi and Raebareli, Congress star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi on Thursday slammed BSP chief Mayawati for allegedly diverting central funds for the construction of parks and erection of statues in Uttar Pradesh.
Resuming her campaigning in Amethi and Raebareli, Priyanka Gandhi addressed around 20 meetings. She charged that the politics of caste and religion had ruined UP during the past 22 years. She said the state had lagged behind in every field. She exhorted the voters to support the Congress for the development of Uttar Pradesh.
Star campaigner
The Congress party’s star campaigner also freely mingled with the crowd, especially the women, and appealed to them to support her brother Rahul, who, she said, was fighting for them.
Priyanka’s two children, Rehan and Miraya also accompanied her in the campaigning and were seen on the stage at some election meetings. The kids seemed to enjoy the hectic campaigning, the local leaders said.
They also waved at the crowd after the meeting ended.
Significantly, Priyanka told the people to vote for the Congress to secure the future of their children.
“Non-congress governments have nothing for the future of your children,” she said.
Memory
The locals said the kids reminded them of late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, who often used to take his children, Priyanka and Rahul, to Amethi while he campaigned there.
