SP nominee seeks Priyanka’s support
In a strange incidence, a Samajwadi Party (SP) nominee from Raebareli ‘sadar’ (town) assembly seat sought Congress star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi's support for victory at the polls and the latter agreed but with a condition.
She asked the SP nominee to join the Congress if he wanted her to support him.
Priyanka, who has been campaigning in Amethi and Raebareli Lok Sabha constituency for Congress nominees from the ten assembly segments, had a chance encounter with the SP nominee R P Yadav near Harchandpur in Raebareli on Friday. Yadav urged Priyanka to support him. “I asked Priyankaji to support me...she asked me to join the Congress but I told her that I was a true solider of Mulayam Singh Yadav,” Yadav said later.
“I told him join the Congress,” Priyanka said in reply to a query by the reporters.
Meanwhile, the Congress' star campaigner held a roadshow at Harchandpur after her election meeting there had to be cancelled at the last moment. The meeting was scheduled to be held at a school but since the classes were going on Priyanka decided to cancel the meeting as it would have been a violation of the model code of conduct.
Priyanka addressed a series of election meetings in Raebareli district during which she exhorted the people to support the Congress for all round development of the state. ”Vote for change and development,” she told the electorate.
