Deve Gowda promises ministerial berths for Mysore

Mysore, Feb 10, 2012, DHNS:

JD(S) supremo at convention in city; HDK is Arjuna, says Sindhia

Janata Dal (Secular) supremo H D Deve Gowda on Friday dangled a carrot of ministerial berths for legislators of the district, if the party was voted to power in the next Assembly elections.

He was addressing a huge gathering of party workers and loyalists, after inaugurating Jayavahini Yatra at Dasara exhibition grounds here. The platform was named after former chief minister S Bangarappa.

Said Deve Gowda: “If the party wrests power from BJP, Mysoreans will also have the credit of being a part of the system. People should strengthen the hands of H D Kumaraswamy. He has  promised to take over the mantle of the party in future too and will remain in state politics.

Launching a tirade against both Congress and BJP, Deve Gowda predicted that it is far from possible for both the national parties to ascend the seat of power. It will be only a regional party like JD(S) led by Kumaraswamy that has the chances of adorning the seat of power.

Without taking the name of opposition leader Siddaramaiah and his followers, Kumaraswamy mocked at them for waiting for the mercy of AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi. “When in JD(S), the particular leader and his men were making Deve Gowda wait for them. Owing to greed of power, he and his men walked out of the party, leaving it in doldrums. It was at that moment, I could develop a rapport with the district and the convention that followed reposed people’s faith in me,” he said.

Ex-minister P G R Sindhia likened Kumaraswamy to Arjuna of Mahabharata and wanted him to win the polls for better future of the state.

Going a step ahead, MLA B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan said he will create a record of sorts by chalking out exclusive programmes as a minister that may be considered even for Guinness Book of World Records.

State JD(S) youth wing president Madhu Bangarappa said the youth wing of the party too has plans for a similar convention. He thanked the party top brass for naming the dais after his father and former chief minister S Bangarappa, who passed away recently.

Show stealerActress Pooja Gandhi, who joined the party recently, was the star attraction as whistles rented air as she came on the dais. However, she left the venue in a jiffy later.Ex-Union minister Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, JD(S) district unit president and MLC S Chikkamadu, city unit chief Koppal Rajanna, MP N Cheluvaraya Swamy, ex-minister K L Annadani, MLA Sa Ra Mahesh and others were present.
