In what appears to be a grim reminder of the Lalu-Rabri raj, where the ruling party legislators used to dance with the “nautch” girls, a Janata Dal (United) MLA Shyam Bahadur Singh has been accused of gyrating with bar girls at a marriage function in Siwan district.
The legislator reportedly climbed on the stage with a liquor bottle in hand and danced with the performers, at the marriage function of Vijay Singh, younger brother of former mukhiya Ajay Singh.
The MLA’s misdemeanour has caused huge embarrassment to the chief minister as the latter is very particular about the behaviour of his legislators in public and has specifically asked them not to replicate what was common in Lalu’s era. Till six years back, when Rabri Devi was at the helm, her brothers Sadhu and Subhash Yadav would often bring in nautch girls for entertainment. These eunuchs used to perform “launda” dance.
Meanwhile, the Janata Dal (United) MLA on Friday denied performing “dirty dancing.”
“It’s true that I attended a wedding at Kartarpur village in Siwan district on late Wednesday night, but I did not indulge in any ‘indecent act,’ as reported in a section of media,” Singh clarified.
