Gali wants copter and cars back

HYDERABAD, Feb 10, 2012, DHNS:

Tainted former Karnataka minister and mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy and his brother-in-law accused in the illegal mining case have filed a petition in the CBI court urging to release the chopper and valuable cars, including the BMW and Rolls Royce.

The jailed Karnataka politician contended that the helicopter was purchased in the name of Obulapuram mines in 2006. He further added that the helicopter was purchased at a cost of Rs 2 crore on installment basis at an EMI of Rs 10.31 lakh per month. In addition the OMC has to pay Rs 75 lakh to the airport authorities at Bangalore for the hanger facility.

The petitioners urged the court to consider their plea as the helicopter and the valuable cars will be damaged if kept with the CBI without regular use and periodic maintenance.

Petitioners assured the designated court that the chopper and the cars will be handed over to the CBI whenever the court wants them to do so . The court posted hearing on this issue to February 13.
