Goons in cars rape two girls, kidnap another
Brutalised: Girls aged 13 and 15, working woman waylaid
A 25-year-old woman was waylaid and kidnapped on her way home from work on Thursday evening.
She was pulled into a moving car by three unidentified men in Chhawla in south-west Delhi. She was still missing on Friday. Police suspected the victim might have been raped. The woman works as a data-entry operator in a private company at Udyog Vihar in Gurgaon.
She along with three other girls was going home when she was abducted near Hanuman Chowk in Qutab Vihar Phase-II around 7:30 pm, police said.
“After getting down at a bus stop near Hanuman Chowk, the four girls were walking towards their homes when a red Tata Indica car stopped near her. Three persons with covered faces came out of the car and forced the victim inside the car,” said a senior police officer. The car had no number plates.
“The victim’s friends told police that they tried to stop the kidnappers but the men managed to take her away.
“The kidnappers pushed and bashed up the girls when they tried to resist the kidnapping bid. Meanwhile, a passerby also tried to rescue the girl. When he intervened and asked them to leave her, the kidnappers thrashed him and fled with the girl,” the official said.
The girls informed police and the victim’s father. Chhawla Police registered a case of kidnapping against unnamed persons. Police are probing if the kidnappers had targeted the victim or they picked the girl at random.
“Preliminary investigations have revealed that the kidnappers knew the girl and were waiting for her to return in the evening. We are however probing all possible angles,” the official said.
Family protestThe victim’s family members and the locals held a protest, blocking the Najafgarh-Chhawla Road on Friday. The victim’s father is a contractual labourer.
Police said they were informed about the kidnapping a little before 9:20 pm. Jayant, a local resident, said, “We held a demonstration against Delhi Police for their inability to trace the accused and the victim.
“If they fail to trace her and arrest the kidnappers, we would block the road again on Saturday.”
