HDK promises two minister posts to Kodagu if JD(S) wins

Madikeri, February 11 2012, DHNS:

Janapara Janata Yathra arrives at Madikeri

JD(S) has condemned BJP strongly for not giving even a single ministerial berth to leaders hailing from Kodagu, over the last four years.

JD(S) State President H D Kumaraswamy taking on BJP promised the Kodavas that he would give two ministerial berth if JD(S) comes to power at the State.

JD(S)’s ‘Janapara Janata Yathra’ arrived at Madikeri on Saturday. A public convention was held at Gandhi Maidan in Madikeri on arrival of the Jatha.

Addressing the gathering, he told the voters that they have given chance to national parties like the Congress and the BJP and hence this time they should give JD(S) an opportunity.

“If the two assembly seats are won by JD(S) in the district then both M C Nanaiah and Jeevijaya will be installed as ministers,” promised HDK adding that solution for forest land encroachment problem in the region through amendment to laws will be the main agenda of the Party for the district.

He said that though Devegowda has tried to hand over 53,000 acre of forest land to revenue department, he could not proceed with the plan due to objection from some leaders, many years ago.

“When I was the chief minister, I have waived off the farmers’ loans completely. The coffee growers of the region had availed benefits from the same,” he said expressing confidence of JD(S) winning 120 to 130 seats in the future election.

Party Vice-President Shanthu Appaiah, leaders M C Nanaiah, P G R Sindhia, Madhu Bangarappa among others were present.

Meanwhile V P Shashidhar took charge as Kodagu District President of JD(S).

Father vouches for son

Devegowda said that though there are only two Assembly constituencies in Kodagu, both are very important in State politics. “Kumaraswamy has been fighting single handed against corrupt BJP and Congress. This is a reason valid enough to support him,” said Devegowda requesting people to vote for his son.
