Be ready for challenges, budding advocates told
Retired judge of Andra Pradesh High Court B S Raikote on Saturday called on budding advocates to be prepared to face challenges in the future.
He was speaking after inaugurating Surana and Surana ‘National Moot Court Competition on Corporate Laws’ at JSS Law College in the city.
Raikote said increasing foreign investment in the nation has been the cause of conflicting cases in the court and young advocates have to be ready to deal with them.
Referring to law graduates fad for the corporate sector, Raikote said it’s difficult to decide the ability of a person in a jiffy. Those who land plum jobs straight from college are sure to trip. It needs intense training and deep knowledge to acquire expertise. To improve one’s ability at college level competitions like moot court, seminar and debate are the key.
Apart from this, advocates of the future have to practice credibility with rise in scams. Most of the political parties are hit by controversies thus pushing the state into a crisis.
Principal district and sessions court judge H P Sandesh advised the students to focus on laws and credibility during the competition. After graduating out, money should not be the only priority, but also service, he added.
Executive secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha B N Betkerur, member of State Bar Council C Appajigowda, president of Bar Association C Basavaraj, principal civil senior grade judge Hosa Goundar and others were present.
