‘Repose faith in judiciary to solve problems in society’
“A society without cases was never present nor will it be so in future. People should have faith in the judiciary to solve their problems. The judicial system should strive to solve cases at the earliest,” High Court judge H Billappa said.
He was speaking at the inauguration of a new building of JMFC in Alur on Saturday.
“Even though there are several problems in the society, people still have faith in courts to resolve them. More than three crore cases pending in various courts in the country is proof of the faith people have in judiciary,” he added.
“Lok Adalats and mediation centres have been opened to speed-up the process. More than 80,000 cases have been solved in the country due to Lok Adalat,” he said.
Law minister S Suresh Kumar said Rs 1.40 crore has been spent on the construction of the new JMFC court building at Alur.
The government has set aside Rs four crore for the construction of a guest house for judges.
Expenditure on courts
In the last three years, the government has spent Rs 301 crore for the construction of 154 buildings. Construction of remaining 182 buildings are under progress.
The government has also completed construction of 75 guest houses at a cost of Rs 76 crore and work on 67 buildings is under progress.
Photocopiers
He said the government has decided to provide photocopier machines to all bar associations.
High Court judges K L Manjunath, Abdul Nazeer, MLA H K Kumaraswamy, advocate H V Thimmegowda, Bar Association president A S Mahesh, secretary Nagaraj, judge Hanumanthappa, district sessions judge K B Changappa and others were present.
