` 30 lakh for Rathotsava

The religious endowment department and the administrative committee of Sri Malemahadeshwara Swamy temple have made all arrangements for the jathra mahotsava to be held from February 19 to 23 on the occasion of Shivaratri.

The Rathotsava would begin on February 22 at 7.30 am under the guidance of Guruswamy and Immadi Mahadevaswamy. As lakhs of devotees are expected to attend the Rathotsava from both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Rs 30 lakh has been earmarked to provide basic amenities like drinking water, public toilets, etc.

KSRTC, private bus owners and the temple would ply special buses from various parts of the state for the benefit of devotees. Special buses will also ply from Tamil Nadu.

Free food

Free food would be provided to all devotees throughout the jathra mahotsava at the new and old dasoha bhavans and also on the premises of the Malemahadeshwara High School.

State religious endowment commissioner Krishnaiah held a meeting to discuss preparations for the Rathotsava at the DC office Hall in Chamarajanagar on Monday.

He directed the district level officers to take all measures to avoid any inconvenience to devotees and provide complete security. MLA R Narendra, administrative officer of the temple Jayavibhava Swamy, executive officer Chandrasekhar, additional deputy commissioner Dr H T Chandrasekhar, superintendent of police P Rajendra Prasad and assistant commissioner A B Basavaraju were present on the occasion.
