The Delhi unit of BJP has demanded a security cover for Jana Sangharsh Yatra being led by its president Vijender Gupta on Wednesday after the recent terrorist attack on Israeli diplomat’s car.

Addressing a press conference at the party office on Wednesday, Delhi Bhartiya Janta Party spokesman Vijay Jolly said after the terrorist attack in broad daylight on an Israeli embassy vehicle, BJP is worried over the safety of its Delhi unit president Vijender Gupta.

“BJP is the principal opposition party in Delhi and India. It is the duty of the government and police to provide adequate security cover to the opposition leaders in the national capital.

The life and security of Gupta is in peril as no police security has been provided round the clock,” said Jolly alleging that Delhi police are taking the issue very lightly.

Jolly said that BJP is apprehensive of a possible terror attack and warned that in case of any incident, the Congress-led Central and state governments should be held responsible.

He said security must be stepped up immediately. The BJP spokesman also claimed that BJP Jana Sangharsh Yatra is receiving a tumultuous applause and welcome by Delhiites.
