Intersil bets on Pico projectors to push biz

Bangalore, Feb 17, 2012, DHNS:

Intersil Corporation, on Thursday, said it was betting on Pico projectors to propel is business growth.

Briefing reporters, Global CEO Dave Bell said, “we feel Pico projects would grow the same way as cell phone cameras. These are stand-alone products whose smaller size and lower power consumption would go with smartphones and tablet PCs letting people project images on plain walls, he explained.

Bell, who introduced the company’s India team, said they would take advantage of the semiconductor designing and software skills available here. Stating the company’s core strength was high-performance analogue and mix-signal products, Intersil, he said, has expanded through investments in R&D to produce best in class products in high growth area such as consumer electronics.

Our R&D investment of 30 per cent is done in products that would bring meaningful difference to the market. Digital power management, projectors, automobile, dense power conversion, sensors, audio, PC power management are among ten growth areas Intersil has identified, he added.
