8 women, pimp held for flesh trade
Eight women, including a 40-year-old pimp, were arrested in central Delhi for running a sex racket, police said on Saturday.
The police got a tip-off about a prostitution racket being run in and around IP Estate in central Delhi.
“A decoy customer was instructed to deal with Yasmin, the pimp. She brought seven women with her and a deal was struck. After confirmation, a raid was conducted near Pushta and all of them were arrested,” said additional commissioner of police (central) Devesh Chandra Srivastva.
Meeting family’s needs
During interrogation, sex workers told police that they joined prostitution to meet their family’s needs and enjoy a lavish lifestyle.
“They belong to lower and middle strata of society and fall in the age group of 25 to 40 years. These women have been in the flesh trade for the last two to three years,” said Srivastva.
Yasmin, the kingpin of this group, belongs to a poor family. She told police that she started flesh trade business to earn quick money in order to make a comfortable living. After some time, she formed a group, said Srivastva.
