Los Angeles, Sept 2 ,PTI:

Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone is lacing up his action boots as the actor is set to reprise his popular on-screen character John Rambo for the fifth edition.

Sylvester StalloneThe 63-year-old actor will star and direct the follow up to his 2008 Rambo.

The fifth venture will revolve around Rambo fighting his way through human traffickers and drug lords to rescue a young girl abducted near the US-Mexico border, Variety reported.

Earlier, the 'Rocky' star had hinted of the fifth saga in the Rambo series depending upon the success of the fourth movie in the series.

"Making a fifth Rambo would depend on the success of the fourth movie but that I am gearing one up and that it would be quite different," the actor had said in an interview last year.

The production for the film will start in the spring 2010. Stallone is currently pepped up for post production of 'The Expendables' which pays a tribute to the action-film era of the 80-90's and revolves around a group of combat mercenaries who go on a mission to overthrow a dictator which stars Hollywood bigwigs like Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
