Gang chops off Congman’s hand
A group of four persons attacked a Congress party worker and chopped off his left hand on Bagalkot Road in Bijapur on Wednesday.
The victim, Asif Inamdar, was having tea, when he was attacked by Mohin Mushriff of Haveli Galli and other suspects, police said.
Asif fired in the air to scare the suspects, before he collapsed. His left had was chopped off and he was severely injured in the right hand.
A traffic police on duty shifted him to a nearby hospital, the police said.
Old enmity
The reason for the attack, the police suspect, is the old enmity.
Asif and the suspects had a clash during the Youth Congress elections in October last year, sources said.
F A Trasgar, the in-charge superintendent of police, visited the spot. A case has been registered with the Gandhi Chowk Police Station.
