<p>Undergraduate and post-graduate students of All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) on Monday staged protest against the decision of rehabilitation council of India (RCI) to introduce four month course in hearing aid dispensing.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The students wearing black bands on their arms were of the view that the new course expected to be introduced from the coming academic year will be a bane for the students currently pursuing the same course for four and six years. <br /><br />Audiologist<br /><br />When there is no job of audiologist existing in the government sector, it is but inevitable for those successfully completing the course to opt for private practice.<br /> When this is the pathetic situation, the short-term course will bring more number of candidates thus leading to unhealthy competition. The faculty of the institute too wore black bands in support of protesting pupils.<br /><br />Boycot classes<br /><br />Trainees of special D Ed course at Hellen Keller Government Teachers Training Centre have launched an indefinite stir boycotting classes from March 9 demanding for the announcement of results.<br /><br />In a press release issued on Monday by the students, it is said that the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) which has been entrusted with the onus of conducting exams, have delayed the same for no reasons. <br /><br />Earlier Manipal University for Education was conducting the exams and were also announcing results on time. The trouble started only when IGNOU took it up from 2010-12 academic year.<br /><br /> The course is being run by the State government with the registration of rehabilitation council of India (RCI). Owing to the delay in results, the students are unable to streamline method of learning, and also the chances of applying for jobs.<br /></p>
