Techie crushed under tipper wheels

A software engineer was killed on the spot after a tipper ran over him in Old Airport traffic police limits on Wednesday evening.

The victim, Sangeeth Lal, 32, lived in an apartment near Outer Ring Road, Marathahalli. He was an Oracle staffer, said the police.

The accident occurred when he was returning home on his two-wheeler. The speeding tipper driver lost control when he approached the underpass at Kadubisanahalli junction and rammed against the bike from behind. Lal fell down and the front wheel of the tipper ran over his head killing him on the spot. The driver fled with the vehicle, said the police.

Lal hailed from Kerala and was married one-and-half-years ago. His wife had given birth to a baby just two months ago. The police shifted the body to Bowring Hospital.

Man run over by truck

Jayan (59), a resident of Ramamurthynagar, died on the spot after he was run over by a truck which rammed into his two-wheeler on Mysore Road on Wednesday afternoon.

The victim, a native of Kerala, had settled down in Bangalore, police said. The truck driver is absconding.
