<p>Teachers’ commitment will go a long way in making mid-day meal scheme, in collaboration with the community, efficient, said Public Instruction Department (Mid-Day Meal Division) Joint Director B G Naik.<br /><br /></p>.<p>During a surprise visit to the Government Higher Primary School at Kataripalya in the City recently said the State government’s mid-day meal initiative was introduced to increase attendance among students and also to ensure quality education.<br /><br />The meals provided to students should be nutritious, tasty and hygienic, he added.<br />Moreover, the mid-day meal scheme can be successfully implemented with the active participation of the community. Quality of food can be monitored when mothers of students have food along with the children. <br /><br />Surprise visits of officers concerned will help to keep a check on quality of food served, Naik added.<br /><br />Kolar a model<br /><br />Naik expressed his satisfaction over Kolar bagging the first place in maintaining accident-free kitchen. <br /><br />All the kitchens, where mid-day meals are cooked have uniform colour. Moreover, to avert fire accidents use of aprons are made compulsory. Thus, Kolar has become a model to the State, in the implementation of the mide-day meal scheme, he added.<br /><br />Naik later visited government higher primary schools in Kondarajanahalli and Chamanhalli and supervised the implementation of the mid-day meal scheme.<br /></p>
