Adulterated petrol seized in Mulbagal

In a surprise raid conducted by the Kolar SP Ram Nivas Sapat’s team, adulterated petrol worth Rs 35 lakh, which was stored in a farmhouse, on the outskirts of the town, was seized on Sunday morning.

Acting on a tip-off, Sapat along with the DCIB police raided the farmhouse belonging to Nazeer, a resident of V Guttahalli in the taluk, at around 3 am. The culprits , however, fled from the spot.

As many as 150 barrels of petrol along with a tanker containing petro-chemicals was seized. Apart from this, a lorry, three MUVs and a two-wheeler was also seized.

Police said that Afzal of Mulbagal, Musafir of Kolar ( Clock Tower area) and Moula, a resident of Hosakote were involved in the production and supply of adulterated petrol.

The culprits who brought unadulterated petrol in a tanker from Bangalore, which was stored in barrels. They later filled the tanker with kerosene-mixed petrol and supplied them to many petrol pumps, said police who added that the culprits were involved in the illegal activity for quite some years now.

The police team comprised SP Ram Nivas Sapat, DCIB Inspector Lakshmaiah and staff. Mulbagal DySP Govindaiah, Inspector Shivakumar and PSI Srinivas visited the spot.

A case has been registered.
