<p>He is witty, funny, fun to be with and down to earth. In short, Gaurav Gera, best known for his performance as Jassi’s best friend Nandu in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, makes you feel at ease instantly. Television actor and comedian, Garuav made his debut in the television soap Life Nahin hai Laddoo. This was followed by roles in more popular shows like Sanskruti and The Great Indian Comedy Show but it was Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin that made him a household name where he played the lovable geek. <br /><br />“Jassi... changed my life. I got many offers after the show. Everything, including the money changed. A hit is always is necessary to be successful.” But he hasn’t restricted himself to being a TV actor. Gaurav has also tried his hand in radio jockeying, commercials and even films - with cameos in Kyun! Ho Gaya Na; Neal n Nikki and Dasvidaniya.<br /><br />But acting wasn’t his first choice. After earning a diploma in fashion and working for a while with a production house in New Delhi, Gaurav moved to Mumbai to try acting. But he is back now “after a banvaas of 13 years - almost like Lord Ram. I shifted my base because of work and now I am back because I am working on this daily show Jhumroo, being organised by Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon.” Based on songs by late Kishore Kumar the show is likely to start 5 April.<br /><br /> But why Kishore Kumar? “He is widely known. He has fans all over the world and is one of the best entertainers that our country has known. So, we are celebrating his spirit through this show.” How has it been working with Shweta Gulati, his co-star in the show? “We were neighbours in Mumbai and I used to stare at her from my window! We are great friends and have also worked together earlier. So, it will be fun to work together again.”<br /><br />Gaurav admits that he has never had long term commitments post Jassi..., “That is how I am. I am happy with the amount of screen presence I am getting. I don’t like to play characters of pati.” Gaurav who swears by jeans and tees says that he loves working across mediums - be it TV, radio or films as all of them are different. “In TV one has to deliver 16 scenes, in films one has to deliver two scenes in two days and in radio it is more chilled out. I do not even have to take bath when I am doing radio you see,” he laughs off.<br /><br />Husband he may not want to be, but did you know that the versatile actor has even played character of women? Gaurav says just enjoy it as it is very challenging. I am a very keen observer, and love every character I play.”<br /><br />Born and brought up in Delhi, Gaurav sees his first home with new eyes now: “Delhi has changed so much. It is prettier with its Metro and malls. I love it even more.” Now for the million dollar question. What about dating and marriage? “There is a lot of pressure but I am not in a hurry. It will happen maybe in two years. Besides, it feels nice with all the attention that women pay. I thoroughly enjoy it.” <br /></p>
