Pune-based Garware Motors, on Thursday, revealed that its latest offering in the Indian market, the ‘Hyosung GT 250R’, will hit the Indian roads in May this year.

Garware Motors, the promoter and retailer of South Korea’s Hyosung bikes in India, is aiming to make the most of the promising 250cc superbike segment.

Talking to Deccan Herald, Garware Motors General Manager (Sales & Marketing) Shivapada Ray said, “The superbike market, involving machines in the 200cc to 250cc category, is surely heating up.”

Experts say that even if 10 per cent of the customers from categories onwards of 150cc graduate to the 200cc-250cc categories, the number of vehicle sales in the latter category will be around 1.7 million in the next two years.

It may be mentioned that owing to India’s roads being less accomodative to riding superbikes, the modest 250cc category might prove to be a big draw for the bike enthusiasts.

Presently, the category already boasts of players such as Kawasaki, Honda and KTM.
The Hyosung GT 250R, also called the ‘Comet’, will be sold across all of the company’s 19 dealerships and like the other players, one may expect its price to be somewhere between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 3 lakh.

“Like all our other products (GT 650R, ST 7 and GT 650N), the GT 250R will also be available in the form of Completely Knocked-Down (CKD) kits, which will be assembled at our facility near Pune,” Ray said. Garware is likely to launch two cruisers, GV 650 and GV 250 Aquila, in the near future.
