Eight drivers of KSRTC bus who gave a stop at N R circle were issued notice by traffic cops, in Hassan on Tuesday.

Stop for bus was banned at circle  as it would create problems at the busy circle. N R circle has also witnessed many major accidents in previous years.

Six persons had lost their lives in an accident which happened six years ago. Few months back two persons died as auto and a two wheeler were hit by lorry.

Traffic police had instructed bus drivers not to give stops for bus at the circle and even had put up a board ‘no stop’. But drivers of KSRTC have paid no attention to the instructions.

Cops had placed barricades in front of B M road a few months ago to avoid stop at the circle.

But drivers gave stops before or after the barricades or on mid-roads which disrupted the traffic on the road even more. Traffic inspector Bhanu and staff who got into task on Tuesday morning, issued notices to eight drivers.

Some drivers opposed the act of cops. ‘We have instructions by our department to provide stop here due to public demand. What are we supposed to do if police issue us notice?’ they questioned.
Public who gathered near circle also criticised police and demanded for a stop at N R Circle or all buses to arrive at old bus stand.

‘We have instructed drivers many times not to provide a stop at N R circle. They have to pay fine as they have not heeded  to instructions,’ said divisional control officer of KSRTC Basavaraj.
