Benz unveils new C-class

Bangalore, Sep 8, DH News Service:

Seeking to add more colour to its ‘brandwagon’ in the luxury car segment — with its E-class now phased out — Mercedes Benz rolled out a special edition, limited series C-class priced at Rs 30.10 lakh (ex-showroom Bangalore) here.

The car’s design sports sporty and stylish genes, with the introduction of 17 inch 5-twin spoke alloy wheels, chrome surrounds and the universal media interface (UMI). Similarly, Benz claims that the emblem on the front radiator grille reflects aggression, agility, power and perfromance — expression of the vehicle’s inherent strengths.
The car is available in three colours: Carneol Red, Obsidian Black and Calcite White, and is equipped with redesigned air intake sills and chrome surrounds on the fog lamps.
The new car also sports the all new UMI, which allows customers to connect to mobile entertainment and communication devices like USB-based MP3 players, music mobiles, iPod or the iPhone to the on-board audio system.

Briefing reporters, Mercedes Benz India Director (sales & marketing) Debashish Mitra conceded that the car is made to appeal to young customers seeking sporty and aggressive designs, and said that only 60 cars of this model is being manufactured by the firm. Further, the firm said that it will launch more cars this year including the all new E-class, while putting on hold its ambitions to enter the used car market. “There are more cars to come this year, and about the used car segment, we are carrying out a small exercise in our Chakan plant, where we sell cars used by the firm through our factory trade-out process,” Mitra added.

The firm has already sold around 2,000 units across segments as on August 31, as against 3,625 units for the whole of last year and is upbeat about the prospects of the automobile industry in the country.
