<p>Puttur KSRTC bus shelter toilet, which remained locked for a long time was suddenly opened by the authorities on Monday, taking everyone by surprise. The authorities had closed the toilet citing lack of water supply as a reason.<br /><br /></p>.<p>However, on Monday dignitaries including Puttur MLA and Zilla Panchayat President were supposed to visit the depot to flag off the newly commenced sleeper coach bus service between Puttur and Bangalore.<br /><br />Sensing that the issue might be brought to the notice of the dignitaries by one or the other person at the depot, the authorities cleverly got the toilet cleaned and also fixed up temporary water connection. <br /><br />The local residents said that since the bus shelter toilet was locked by the authorities, the passengers used to use the roadsides to urinate and sometimes even defecate.<br /><br />This was causing lot of problems in the depot area. Though the local residents had brought the issue to the notice of the KSRTC officials, they paid not attention to it. <br /><br />The local residents say that when the programme of launching of the new service was scheduled, the officials suddenly plunged into action and did the needful. <br /><br />“It is learnt that water connection was provided to the toilet on Sunday night itself,” said a resident who added that one has to wait and watch for how many days this eyewash will be sustained.<br /><br />Launch of service<br /><br />Zilla Panchayat President K T Shailaja Bhat on Monday launched KSRTC’s sleeper coach bus service between Puttur and Bangalore, at Puttur KSRTC depot.<br />The bus will leave everyday from Puttur at 9.50 pm and reach Bangalore at 5.30 am, via Uppinangady.
