Mayor defends seizure of KSCA truck

Last Updated 18 April 2012, 19:41 IST

Mayor Sharadamma on Wednesday defended the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) move to seize the truck engaged by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to dump garbage at Talaghattapura, reports DHNS from Bangalore.

She said no one will be allowed to dump garbage at a place of their choice.

“There is an identified place to dump garbage. No one will be allowed to violate this norm irrespective of how influential they are,” said the Mayor.

The spat between the BBMP and the KSCA hit the headlines on Tuesday when the Palike officials seized a truck of garbage at Talaghattapura on Kanakapura Road. The BBMP slapped a penalty of Rs 10,000 on the truck driver for violating rules.

The Mayor, however, denied that the action was linked to BBMP’s tiff with KSCA over the free IPL tickets. She said the Palike is not linking it to the KSCA since it was a mistake committed by the truck driver.
