Miscreants make futile bid to loot co-op bank

Unidentified miscreants had made an attempt to enter the Thannerupantha Seva Sahakari Sangha bank using the gas cutter on Thursday night. 

However, they failed in their attempt and had fled the spot leaving behind all the materials used to open the safe lock. The miscreants had broke open the shutters of the ground floor and and had reached the first floor which houses safe locker. After entering the first floor, they had disconnected the siren which is placed inside the bank. 

It is said that the professional theives must have been behind the attempt. Thd dog squad, fingerprint experts rushed to the spot. Puttur ASP Anucheth and others visited the spot.
 Man held for theft

The police have arrested a person in connection with the theft of cashewunuts from cashew plantations at Bayambadi in Puttur taluk. The arrested has been identified as Harishchandra Gowda (19), son of Babu Gowda, a resident of Arekkila in Kolthige village.
The police have seized a two-wheeler from the arrested. It was said that Gowda was involved in few theft cases. The police who produced the accused before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody. 

2 held for gambling

The police arrested two persons who were engaged in gambling, at Balmatta New road on Thursday. Acting on a tip off, the police raided Smart Towers and arrested Santhosh Kumar, a resident of Kasargod and Vikram, a resident of Permannur and seized Rs 20,280, table, drawing sheets. A case has been registered.
