But a meagre 180 of them managed to get jobs.<br /><br />The human resource development centre was set up in the same office 10 months ago.<br /><br /> It has managed to provide employment in the private sector for 1,461 applicants out of the total 6,902 job aspirants who registered. <br /><br />Another 400 have been selected, but are yet to get the job offers. Also, counselling was conducted for 1,953 job aspirants to assess their qualifications and job aspirations. <br /><br />As many as 913 job aspirants have been selected for training in various skills to make them job ready. <br /><br />The centre was inaugurated in July last, as a joint venture between the Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation of the State Labour Department and the Manipal Group of Institutions. <br /><br />As many as 111 employers have also registered at the HRD centre. <br /><br />Mini job melas<br /><br />The HRD centre has so far conducted 10 mini job melas in various taluk headquarters of the district.<br /><br /> A few private companies have also conducted interviews at the centre premises, says K Srinivasa, the district employment officer. <br /><br />The HRD centre conducts beautician, computer courses and spoken English classes for the registered job aspirants. <br /><br />A total of 10 staffers - five of the Manipal Group of Institutions and five of the employment exchange - are manning the HRD centre.<br /><br />The centre has been set up on a public private partnership basis and aims to find the right job for the right candidate. <br /><br />The employment exchange has been upgraded so that those registered there get guidance, training and information on job opportunities all under one roof. <br /><br />The HRD centre has been set up at a cost of Rs 30 lakh.DH News Service</p>
