Dutch woman molested in hospital, youth held

Police found he was involved in other cases as well

A 24-year-old woman from the Netherlands, was allegedly molested in a hospital near Connaught Place in central Delhi, police said.

The incident was reported from Sucheta Kriplani Hospital on Sunday afternoon. The victim came to India few days ago on a three month visa and was staying in a hotel in Paharganj. She visited the hospital on Sunday when she was feeling unwell.

She was waiting outside a doctor’s chamber for her turn. A youth approached her and and convinced her that he had connections in the hospital and would get her treated. She followed the youth thinking he would take her to another doctor. 

“But the youth took her behind the out patient department. When she reached there she sensed there was something suspicious, as it was an isolated area,” said a police officer.

The youth, then took hold of her and tried to molest her, but she resisted and started screaming. The youth became scared and beat her up before fleing from the spot, said the officer. 

She then rushed inside the hospital and narrated the incident. The girl went to Mandir Marg police station and later went for treatment at the hospital.

“We registered a case under section 354 of Indian Penal Code, for assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty” he said.

Meanwhile, a police team, armed with description by the victim and local inputs, went to look for the accused in Paharganj area. The youth, Dushyant, was arrested near his house.

Police also found that Dushyant was involved in similar cases in the area. “He was produced before the victim who identified him,” the officer said.
