<p>In a move to reduce the traffic woes of commuters, the UP government is planning a Rs 16,592 crore rapid transit system (RTS) project on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor.<br /><br />The RTS will cover a distance of about 90 km, said government sources. The national capital region planning board (NCRPB) made a presentation on the project before UP chief secretary Jawed Usmani on Wednesday night.<br /><br />The state housing department has been asked to explore financial aspects, workability and deadline of the project.<br /><br />Usmani said it is an important project for the improvement of public transport on the congested Delhi-Meerut route.<br /><br />The chief secretary has asked the NCRPB to submit a formal proposal soon. </p>.<p><br />The high frequency train network, if found feasible and approved, will be ready by 2016.<br /><br />Of the 90 km, 9.7 km will fall in Delhi while the remaining about 80 km will be in Uttar Pradesh.<br /><br />Buses for Haryana <br /><br />Metro commuters can now hope for a hassle-free travel from home to the station as Haryana Roadways have decided to launch feeder bus services on eight routes connecting Gurgaon and Faridabad with major Metro stations.<br /><br />The stations with which the bus network would be connected are Badarpur, Tughlakabad, AIIMS, Kashmere Gate and Huda City Centre.<br /><br />DMRC had requested Haryana Roadways to introduce feeder bus services on these routes for the convenience of the commuters using the Metro, especially in the satellite towns of Gurgaon and Faridabad.<br /><br />The new bus routes include Sikanderpur to Rajeev Chowk, Badarpur to Ambedkar Chowk, Badarpur to GoodYear Chowk, Tughlagabad to Tughlagabad, Ballabhgarh Bus Stand to AIIMS, NIT Bus Stand to AIIMS, Ballabhgarh Bus Stand to ISBT Kashmere Gate and NIT Bus Stand to ISBT Kashmere Gate. <br /></p>
