Rajasthan artistes to perform at Olympics

Jaipur, May 16 2012, DHNS:

Rare honour

World famous Jaipur Kawa Brass Band and Kawa Musical Circus will perform in Belfast (UK) at the Olympic Torch lighting ceremony on June 13.

The British Council has invited the sister organisations by sending a letter. “It is of great pleasure to have two Indian groups accompanying the Olympic torch throughout the streets of Belfast city,” the letter said.

Acknowledging the offer, artistes of the band performed in front of officials of Rajasthan and media persons at the Bikaner House, New Delhi, on Wednesday.

Kawa Music, founded by Hameed Khan Kawa in 2000, is dedicated to promote music and other forms of performing arts of the North India.

In order to extend its activities and expose new talents, Kawa Music Circus decided to produce a creative show with the fusion of live music, dance, puppetry, theatre and circus skills. Kawa Music in September 2007 teamed up Alessandro Maria Torboli, Herve Vital and Hameed Khan Kawa to present Kawa Circus. The special event celebrated the street performances of India.
