Scurry for admission to PU colleges

Mysore, May 21, 2012, DHNS :

Several private colleges provide applications forms on their websites

With the announcement of SSLC results, PU colleges have now turned into a hive of activity as students are lining up to obtain and submit application forms to join courses in science, arts and commerce.

A queue for obtaining the application forms could be witnessed in front of several PU colleges across the city on Monday. While, several schools are issuing application forms at their institutions, many others are  providing the applications online on their college websites.

Despite the searing heat, students and parents alike are lining up before the top colleges to ensure that they don’t miss out on seats in them.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Jagadish of SVEI disclosed that their college has put up application forms on their website to assist students applying for courses.

He said the students can download the application and only have to turn up at the college to submit the forms.

Representatives of various schools disclosed that science combinations are still selling like hot cakes among students.Commerce has also continued to receive a wide response from students.

Facilities

Colleges are offering various facilities such as smart classes, CET coaching during the second year of PU and even a focus on extra-curricular activities. Also, colleges are advocating the use of software, which would inform parents if students are absent from classes.

The software would send an SMS to a parent’s mobile number if their ward misses class, or even if a meeting has been called by the college.

Also, high-quality and fully-equipped labs are another feature, which are being used by colleges to ensure students join their institution.

Managing trustee of Maharshi PU College Bhavani Shankar said the college apart from emphasising on quality education has also given equal stress on participating in extra-curricular activities.

He said several students from their college winning national-level events are a testament to the school’s success.
