JOIN USClass 9 student commits suicide after gang rape
A 15-year-old granddaughter of a former Uttar Pradesh legislator killed herself in Moradabad town, allegedly after being gang raped by four youths who also made an MMS clip of the rape and threatened to post in on the internet.
The class 9 student hanged herself from a ceiling fan in her room on Thursday.
Family members rushed her to hospital but she was declared brought dead by the doctors.
According to police sources, the girl’s grandfather, former Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Balram Saini, met the district superintendent of police, city, Mahendra Yadav and an FIR was later registered.
Saini alleged that one of her granddaughter’s friends, who was also studying with her in the same school, had on Wednesday taken her to a house in Manpur locality where she was raped by four youths.
“The culprits had also made an MMS clipping of the rape and threatened to make it viral on the internet if she told anyone about the incident,” said Saini. “My granddaughter had narrated the entire incident to her family members,” he said.
The former legislator also said the victim took her family to the house where she had been raped. “She was very upset and had gone suddenly quiet after the incident,” he added.
The family members had been keeping a watch on her as they feared that she might take some extreme step.
“She somehow slipped into her room and closed the doors from inside,” the grandfather said. By the time the family realised this, the girl had hanged herself.
Police have detained the girl’s friend and are questioning her, sources said. “The investigations are on and the guilty will not be spared,” Yadav said.
