Bosch to relocate B'lore plant to Bidadi
Bangalore, June 8, 2012, DHNS:
Bosch Limited, a major engineering company, said that it will relocate the manufacturing activities of its Bangalore plant located at Adugodi to Bidadi, on the outskirt of the City, in two phases from 2012-13 to 2015-16.
The company has acquired 97 acres of land in Bidadi for the construction of the new manufacturing facility and will invest nearly Rs 600 crore there. The decision to shift was taken because the Bangalore plant at Adugodi, since its inception in 1953, has grown to its full capacity and can not accommodate further expansion. The Bidadi plant, on the other hand, will have ample expansion potential for future, it said.
The shifting shall happen in two phases. Phase I of shifting involves plant construction from 2012 to 2013 while production shall begin by the first quarter of 2014 with transfer of some 1,000 employees. Phase I shall see production of Common Rail Pump, Common Rail and Glow plugs in the new Bidadi facility.
Construction in Phase II will take place from 2015 to 2016, while production will begin by the first quarter of 2017. With this, the remaining nearly 3,000 employees will relocate to the new location in phase II. Bosch said the company will assist shifting employees to new location in both phases.
