Last Updated 14 May 2009, 19:10 IST

It said: “If you cannot use your intelligence then atleast use your common sense while tracing missing people.”

The Court further criticised the police asking “If you cannot trace a missing girl, how can you trace terrorists?”

The Court was incensed about having to deal with several cases, where the police have failed to track down missing persons including 4-year-old Mounashree and Rekha from Indiranagar. The police department which has come under fire several times was once again taken to task by a division bench headed by Justice Ramamohan Reddy.

Affidavit filed

CoD IGP M N Reddi filed an affidavit in the Court regarding Mounashree’s disappearance case, after being pulled by the Court and claimed to have made some progress in the investigation.

The police had said that Mounashree was abducted by a woman from her school and all efforts were being made to trace her. The details of the child have been posted on police website and anyone who can assist in tracing her will be rewarded Rs 25,000.

The police have expressed confidence that they will trace her in four weeks.
