'Create awareness on malaria'
There is a need to create awareness on Malaria during June and July, said DHO Dr O R Srirangappa.
Speaking at an anti-Malaraia awareness month programme, organised at KMC Hospital in Attavar on Saturday, he said the malaria causing mosquitoes breed in the month of June and July. Instead of following age old traditional medications to check malaria, it would be better to look into the surroundings of the person who is infected with Malaria.
District Vector Born Diseases Control Officer Dr Arun Kumar said in 2011, as many as 6,418 Malaria patients were treated in the district.
KMC Hospiral Associate Professor Dr Kamalakshi G Bhat Dr Nithyananda Chowta and others were present.
